What changed in Pictory's pricing, and why look for an alternative?
Between October 21 and October 26, 2026, Pictory's pricing page switched from listing video minutes per plan to listing one pool of credits shared by all AI features, and annual plans grant the full year of credits upfront. The pricing page translates credits into video minutes. Starter's 24,000 credits cover up to 360 minutes a year, Professional's 72,000 cover up to 1,080 minutes and Teams' 216,000 cover up to 3,600 minutes.
| Pictory plan | Price billed annually | Credits | Video minutes per year (Pictory's figure) | Listed on Oct 21, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $25/mo ("was $29") | 24,000 | Up to 360 | 2,400 video minutes/yr |
| Professional | $35/mo ("was $59") | 72,000 | Up to 1,080 | 7,200 video minutes/yr |
| Teams | $119/mo ("was $199") | 216,000 | Up to 3,600 | 21,600 video minutes/yr |
The October 21 column comes from our own notes for our Pictory vs InVideo comparison, taken from the same pricing page five days earlier. The two minute figures may not measure the same thing: the new plans include AI video models, avatars and image generation that draw on the same credits. Still, if you made long script-to-video projects every week, check how many credits your usual video uses before renewing.

Pictory remains a reasonable choice if you rely on its Getty Images and Storyblocks library, its text-based editing of recorded video, or SCORM export on Enterprise.
Lumen5: blog posts and documents to branded video
Lumen5 is the closest Pictory alternative for marketing and communications teams that turn existing articles into video. You start from a link, a script or a document, and Lumen5 builds a first cut you edit like slides, with brand kits and templates.
The free plan allows 5 videos a month, up to 2 minutes each, in 720p with a Lumen5 branded outro and 24 AI voiceover minutes a year. Basic is $19 a month billed yearly and removes the branding, allows unlimited videos up to 10 minutes and includes 240 AI voice minutes a year. Starter at $59 a month adds 1080p, a 50M+ stock library, a brand kit and one voice clone. Video translations are listed on Basic and above (12 a year on Basic and Starter).
Lumen5's 720p limit on Basic is the main trade-off; you need Starter for 1080p.
Fliki: script, blog or PPT to video with AI voices
Fliki is a Pictory alternative for creators who want voice-led videos from an idea, a script, a blog post or a slide deck, in 80+ languages. The free plan includes 3 credits a month, 300 voices, 720p export with a Fliki watermark and videos up to 5 minutes.
When we checked, Standard showed $16.80 per user a month, $201.60 billed annually, under a "40% off" yearly label and a Halloween sale banner. It includes 2,160 credits a year, 1080p export, videos up to 15 minutes and voice cloning. Premium was $633.60 billed annually, with videos up to 40 minutes and API access.
Because the sale price may end, compare Fliki on the price you will pay at renewal.
InVideo: prompt to video with generative models
InVideo is a Pictory alternative for people who want an AI agent to generate the whole video from a prompt, including generated clips and images, rather than matching stock footage to a script. Plans are priced per seat with monthly credits, and the timeline editor is included.
Starter is $20 a seat a month on monthly billing, or $10 a month on an annual plan labelled 50% off, with 400 credits a month and access to InVideo's Lite agent only. Plus is $60 monthly or $30 annual with 2,000 credits a month. InVideo's help center says the free plan needs no card and its credit quota resets every Monday at 12 a.m. UTC.
Credits pay for generation, so long videos with many AI clips use them quickly. Our Pictory vs InVideo page compares the two models in more detail.
Descript: when what you liked was editing video using text
Descript is the Pictory alternative to pick if you used Pictory mainly to edit recordings, webinars or podcasts by editing the transcript. It is an editor rather than a script-to-video generator, but it goes further on recorded media: its pricing page lists multitrack transcription, Remove Filler Words, Studio Sound, remote recording and an AI co-editor called Underlord.
The free plan includes 60 media minutes a month. Hobbyist is $16 per person a month billed annually or $24 monthly, with 10 media hours, 400 AI credits and watermark-free 1080p export. Creator is $24 annual or $35 monthly with 30 media hours and 4K export. Our Descript alternatives guide lists other text-based editors.
Deepege: our product, for multi-platform marketing videos
Deepege is our own product, so weigh this section accordingly. It suits teams that publish short marketing videos regularly to several platforms, not one-off script-to-video projects with stock footage.
On deepege.com, the agent writes the script and a director's plan shot by shot, uses your own footage first and fills gaps with public assets, AI shots or digital avatars, then waits for your approval. Voice, subtitles, text overlays and cover are finished together, overseas versions convert the script, voiceover and subtitles into the target language, and videos publish to Douyin, Kuaishou, WeChat Channels, Xiaohongshu and TikTok accounts. There is no public price list: the pricing page asks for a fit assessment and says Deepege is not a fit if you publish on just one platform or have no ongoing content schedule.
To test the first step for free, write a scene-by-scene script with the AI video script generator or a narration track with the AI voiceover generator.
Will faceless stock-footage videos still earn money on YouTube?
Faceless stock-footage videos can still be monetized on YouTube, but only if each one is original and made for viewers rather than mass-produced. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed its "repetitious content" policy to "inauthentic content" in its channel monetization policies, to make clear that repetitive or mass-produced content is not eligible.
The policy says content should be your original creation and not "mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative", and that reviewers may look at a channel's main theme, most viewed and newest videos, and metadata. This applies to every tool on this page, Pictory included. Before switching tools for a faceless channel, check that your process adds something of your own:
- A script you wrote or substantially edited, with a point of view or research a viewer cannot get from the source article.
- Your own material where possible: screenshots, product footage, charts or a recorded voice.
- Visible variation between videos, not the same template with the keywords swapped.
- Accurate titles and thumbnails that match what the video delivers.
If you are weighing an agency or in-house team instead, the video production cost guide compares the options.
How we compared these tools
We opened each vendor's pricing page in a desktop browser on October 26, 2026 (US locale, USD) and recorded the prices shown after the page loaded. We tried the monthly toggle on each page; Pictory's page kept showing annual prices, so only its annual-billed figures appear here. The October 21 Pictory figures are from our notes for an earlier article, taken from the same page. Pages used: Pictory pricing, Lumen5 pricing, Fliki pricing, InVideo pricing, InVideo free plan help article and Descript pricing.
We did not test output quality, voice realism or rendering speed, and we did not use review-site ratings or customer counts. Steve.ai, Synthesia and HeyGen were not included here: Synthesia and HeyGen are avatar-first tools covered in our other comparisons, and we did not verify Steve.ai's current plans today.
Conclusion
If you turn blog posts into branded videos, start with Lumen5's free plan; for voice-led script or PPT videos, try Fliki; for prompt-to-video generation, InVideo; and for transcript-based editing, Descript. If you are staying with Pictory, check how many credits your typical video uses under the new October 2026 plans before your renewal date.
